Diesel Hit A Record Before The Furnaces Turn On
AAA put diesel at $5.90 a gallon on Monday, against $3.71 a year ago. Home heating oil comes off the same barrel.

The furnace burns the same barrel. Regular gas set a Labor Day record at $4.15 on Monday, the first time the holiday has printed above four dollars. Diesel set its own record the same day.

The cause is not the season. The Iran war started on February 28. Before it the pump average was $2.98.
