PANDORA’S BOX
EVERYTHING GOT OUT. THE HOPE IS AT THE BOTTOM.
THE ONE-WAY DOOR
The Patriot rack is two thirds empty
Patriot interceptor stocks fell from about twenty three hundred to under one thousand since February. Rebuilding takes multiple years.
The rack is a physical thing. Patriot missiles wait in canisters, four to a launcher, in warehouses across the country. The Pentagon kept about twenty three hundred of them before February.
Then Iran happened. The Israel-Iran exchange came in twenty twenty five. It used the first round. Operation Epic Fury in February used the next. Two big Iranian barrages in June used more.

OF PATRIOT INTERCEPTORS FIRED SINCE FEBRUARY
| → |
Under one thousand Patriots remain. Down from twenty three hundred. THAAD is down thirty eight percent. Both factories can build only so fast. |
CSIS ran the math last week. Fewer than one thousand Patriot interceptors remain in the stockpile. That is about a third of what the rack held before the war.
THAAD stocks tell the same story. Between two hundred thirty and two hundred seventy eight remain. Down from four hundred fifty. Tomahawks are down by roughly a third.
The factory builds about six hundred Patriots a year. The Army signed a fifty eight billion dollar contract with Lockheed last Tuesday to lift that. The target is two thousand a year by twenty thirty. Not this year.
The interceptor that was fired is gone. The rack refills at the pace of the factory. The missile does not come back the way it went out.

EVERY LEAD PASSES BEFORE IT RUNS
The One-Way-Door Test
| 01 |
Can it be undone?
The interceptor was expended, not lost. But it takes about a year and a half to build a new one. Even at full production, replacing the loss runs into twenty twenty eight.
| 02 |
Who is already moving?
Lockheed signed a fifty eight billion Patriot contract on July twenty ninth. Northrop got a THAAD motor deal the same week. The Pentagon has a supplemental funding request in Congress. Ukraine is asked to wait its turn.
| 03 |
What does being late cost?
Defense contractor stocks have rallied since the ceasefire. Lockheed and Raytheon have priced in the multi-year rebuild. What has not priced in is a second theater flaring up before twenty twenty eight.
THE MOVE · WHILE THERE IS STILL TIME
Do not read the ceasefire as the end of the story. Read defense earnings for the delivery timeline, not the order book. That is where the physical constraint lands.
Orders are big and dated years out. Deliveries are constrained by rocket motors and skilled labor. The rack fills at the speed of both.

WHAT’S LEFT AT THE BOTTOM
Most people will read the war coverage and move on. You will note which racks refill first. And which sit empty another year. Defense stocks are up because the invoice arrived. The rack refills slower than the contract signs.
WE WATCH THE BOX.
